Mountain Mover

I’ve been plowing through the Gospel of Matthew in my own personal God time. I’m asking God to deprogram me from the “Sunday School Jesusâ€? mindset and reprogram me with the reality of Christ’s life. In other words, what was Jesus Christ really like?

Barbara Walters always ask this great question…if you could spend a day with anyone who ever lived and interview them who would it be? That’s the approach I’m taking. What were Jesus’ day to day emotions? What was He thinking and feeling? What were His closest friends like? What would they say was the most striking thing about spending three years with Him? What was His sense of humor like? By the way I have a theory that Jesus had a great smile and a great laugh! How could you not if you were offering a life of outrageous contagious joy? If you have any questions that you would like to lob my way to add to my prayer journal please do. I feel a message series coming out of these questions.

At any rate, I’m struck by how many times Jesus called people out on how little their faith was. Over and over it’s his repeated pattern and repeated theme in His teaching…if you have faith…you can move mountains! I want to experience that! I want to be a Mountain Mover! I wonder how many times He would call me out on little faith?

Funny how God works, I am dealing with the very same issues as well. Learning to pray prayers and dream dreams that are worthy of our awesome God. I want to be a mountain mover! Somebody has too, why not us!

    Buddy,
Why not up the ante a bit to challenge ourselves to not just have faith… but to develop and live with an of attitude of faith. An attitude of faith compels you to believe that Jesus is always growing on the inside of you whether you see it or not. An attitude of faith compels you to step out of your comfort zone and obey God even when it’s uncomfortable and you don’t know where He’s leading you. An attitude of faith compels you, calls you, and grows you to move between continual and consistent acts of faith. An attitude of faith compels you to be patient on His perfect time when you’re antsy to leave a job and He’s telling you to stay. An attitude of faith teaches you to beware the leaven of the pharisees and to focus on doing what God is calling you to do and not focus on the natural things of the world. An attitude of faith gives you courage and justification.

Buddy, even though there isn’t much dialogue in Jeremiah 38, i guarantee you that you will find an attitude of faith in that scripture.

An attitude of faith the size of a mustard seed will move a mountain. I see a big northeastern mountain that needs some moving.

    Hey Buddy,
It is great to see all that is hapening up your way in the “frozen tundra”. We sort of miss it!
i have a “mountain moving” question for you…
I am not sure of you knew or not, but in August I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had a major 7 1/2 hour surgery where they removed my thyroid and 41 lymph nodes. I am not considered cancer free for 2 years. I have an MRI in March to see if it ha spread, this cancer goes to the lungs and liver.
Since August, God has challenged and tested us in ways beyond our belief. Our finances have taken a huge hit, my health, Megan’s mind and emotions, strain on our marriage, etc…..
My question is, why after 22 years of being faithful to God and being in full time ministry and serving HIM and always striving to do what HE wanted, does this happen? I know that God does not cause
cancer, I just don;t understand why we are going through this and why there seems to be no end in sight!
Tell your family hi, I bet my Nat is big now!
    Love and miss you all,
    Terri Collins

Thanks for the email! I am looking forward to reading
Jeremiah 38. Thanks for the tip! Funny I just read about the leaven of the Pharisees! I agree that the Northeast mountain needs to move! Thanks for the encouragement. You have a little bit of Oswald Cambers in you!

    Hi Terry,
Until your email, I had not heard of your situation. I am sorry to hear that and will certainly keep you and your family in our prayers. The reality is, I don’t know why God is testing you the way He is, and I can’t give you a, “this is why, answer. I think of Job and that he was a faithful, godly man, and yet went through enormous testing. I think the best advice is that….Jesus sees and knows and He cares and knows your deepest feelings and heart….. Jesus will never leave you or forake you, Terry. I am sending you a book as well. Tell the fam I said hi. Let us know what we can do to help you. We love you!
