Patiently Posting

It seems like my whole life God’s been trying to teach me patience.

Yesterday as I was staring down a bowl of steaming hot Won-Ton soup, I was faced with a decision…to hurry up and eat or wait for it to cool.Dave
With my stomach growling and my mouth salivating, I grabbed the spoon and hungrily attacked the first Won-Ton full-steam ahead.
My anticipated enjoyment instantly turned to scalding horror as the fiery Won-Ton slid down. Aghhhh!!!!

Q: “Can a man take fire in his being and not be burned?
Proverbs 6:27

A: Noooooo!!!!

Countless times I have rushed through my life full-steam ahead, not waiting for God’s best but instead saying yes to the rest.
Something God has been teaching me for 21 years now is that He always has what’s best for me in mind, if I just patiently wait for it. He’s teaching me to wait for life’s Won-Tons to cool before I rush in and get burnt.

“Good things come to those who wait.”

What will you do the next time someone puts you on hold for 5 minutes, or you get stuck behind a slow driver or a long line at the store? If you get through it with a good attitude, Patience Produces Wisdom!

I’m learning that so many times we’re looking for the next thing in life to satisfy, but the things in life that truly satisfy are always from God.

“Every good gift comes from the Father above.
- James 1:17

Dave, as we were sitting in traffic the other day, I thought about your blog and what you said about what would you do if you were stuck either on the phone or behind a slow driver, as we sat there for 20 min we put on a good worship cd on. I turned up he volumne and just sang along and before ya new it 20 min seemed like 5. You are such and important part of Northway. God has blessed you in so many ways. Keep up the great work and God Bless.

  • Dewey:

Dave, thanks for everything you do behind the scenes to prepare for the weekends at Northway. Your countless hours creating an exciting , amazing atmosphere each and every weekend.

Your passion and committment to God and His house is a target for us all to aim for.

Did those shorts make me look younger?

  • Dave:

Donna, I’m glad you were able to rock out in traffic to some worship jamz! When passing the patient times I think it really helps to glorify God! Thank you for all your encouragement and for being the blessing that you are! -Dave

  • Dave:

Dewey, I count it a privilege and an honor to do what I do and serve along side VIP’s like you!

I’m tellin’ ya man, those plaid shorts really work for ya. -Dave

  • Rich V.:

    Dave,

You are the best!!! God has given you very special gifts. It is an honor to be able use the talents He has given me to help Northway reach the people in the Northeast!

Take it from an old guy like me ;-) … slow down and enjoy the life God has given you. Don’t ever ask Him to give you patientce! I asked for God patience once and He really tested me on it! Instead pray for God to give you a calm heart and mind.

    He is always faithful!

    God Bless

  • Dave:

    Hey Rich,

It is a great privilege to be able to use the talent God has given us in a place where His life changing message is impacting Thousands!

It’s an honor to be able to serve with a young dude like you! Notice in my blog I didn’t say I asked God for patience? I learned my lesson once with that. Asking God for patience is kind of like saying “God, take my life and shake it up like a salt shaker” It’s rough…but it seasons you.

I’m really learning to enjoy the journey instead of looking to the destination.
