Friday I mentioned I received some inside news regarding an unprecedented BUZZ that should hit the church world today! We have been invited to be a part of a national message series entitled, One Prayer, beginning in June with Craig Groeschel of LifeChurch.tv, Ed Young of Fellowship Church, and many other churches. Now, this is so much more than a message series as One Prayer has the opportunity to be a movement!
Imagine hundreds of thousands of Christ followers, possibly millions, cooperating and collaborating in a strategic alignment. Take hearing God’s Word from some of the greatest leaders and communicators in the church world today, then add in community service and global outreach, and you have conditions for a tsunami of generosity that changes our communities locally and globally. I want to encourage ALL pastors and leaders and bloggers to check it out and consider being a part of this historic opportunity.
I think heaven is smiling on this ONE.
Makes me think of the words of Jesus and a recent post I did from several months ago.
John 17:20-23 I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be ONE, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be ONE as we are ONE: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Pretty remarkable that Jesus would take time to pray for you and me. Consider the timing of His prayer, and it’s beyond remarkable! Jesus knew He was hours from being tortured. I don’t know about you, but when I’m struggling with something major (let alone dying, being tortured, and carrying the weight of the sins of the world) the last thing my focus would be on is praying for others. I’m too self-centered.
Maybe that was Christ’s point. When you stop and think about it, how many prayers have we have asked God to answer in our lifetime?
Wouldn’t it be cool if we just stopped once and answered one of His?
