Insurmountable discouragement. The Red Sea.

Can you imagine the thoughts bouncing around in the brains of 2 million people as they approached this sea of emotion? Remember, Israel recently experienced the mighty hand of God as never before in human history. For the first time in 400 years, they experienced relief, reprieve and room to breathe, as God delivered them from slavery.

Now their future was certain. Next stop…The Promise Land. Israel’s breathing room rapidly became shallow as their dreams turned to depression. In front of them…The Red Sea. In back of them…their past chasing them, breathing down their neck, to destroy them…The Egyptian army.

This week, I’ll be sharing some of Northway Church’s Red Sea moments.

How do we go forward as God’s church?

Moses told the children of Israel on their last stop before they entered the promise land…

Deut. Ch. 8 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land…when you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the LORD your God…Do not become proud at that time and forget the LORD your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt…Never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ Remember the LORD your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful.

How do we go forward as God’s church?

In order to go forward, we have to go backwards.

This weekend we kicked off our series Revolution. It’s encouraging to know that God wants Northway Church to move forward MORE than we do. It’s encouraging to know that God cares about the Capital Region MORE than we do. It’s encouraging to know that God cares about the Northeast MORE than we do.

So, we can stroll to our goal, right? Wrong. How do we MOVE forward as God’s church? I’ll be blogging about it all this week…I will also be providing 411 on fasting.

Revolution Weekend May 17th & 18th

2 days until my next guest on Cremeans Couch. If you haven’t heard of Steven Furtick you are in for a refreshing surprise this Monday! It’s obvious Gods hand is all over this dude! Steven Pastors one of the fastest growing churches in the country, Elevation Church.

Had a blast hosting the local Pastors meeting. Met some great leaders in the Capitol Region and made some new friends. I look forward to partnering together to reach the Northeast.

Friday Bonus: Philadelphia Sixers beat the Detroit Pistons! Philly is definitely the underdog and shouldn’t even be in the playoffs. Sixers are up 2 to 1!

This weekend, Northway Church will begin the most important series in the history of our church…The Revolution. What is the Revolution? It’s so much more than a series; it’s the future of Northway Church.

Very excited and honored about hosting the Capital Region Minister’s Meeting tomorrow at Northway. We are five years into this, and during the first 5 years, I wasn’t very intentional about creating local relationships. Why? I didn’t think I had time… church planting can be all consuming you know. It also can be a cop-out!

In the next 5 years, I’m committing to do everything I can to help pastors and leaders everywhere…but especially in the Northeast! Why? I believe you have to be cut from a different cloth to make it in the Northeast. I’m looking forward to seaming some new friendships Friday.

Pierce, Garnett, Allen…all have successful individual careers, but now as they are maturing, they desire MORE! A Championship! They want what they can accomplish together…what they have not been able to accomplish apart.

I’ve been thinking about the Church. What if the “All Stars” of God’s Church today…locally, nationally, globally…would intentionally think of ways to UNITE for ONE COMMON goal? To be consumed about helping those far from God find God. Zoom out and think of the party that would be thrown in heaven. I’m talking a Luke 15 party!

I think One Prayer could be the start of this. I think One Prayer could be the start of the greatest movement of God in the history of the Church! Is there anybody local …is there anybody in the Northeast that has signed up for One Prayer?
