Practice What You Preach (7)

Made it thru the first week! I’m learning a TON! No pun intended. Here are some things that stuck…

Weight follows behavior.

Weight follows behavior…but not right away!

You can choose to focus on how hard it will be to change…or you can choose to focus on how hard it will be if you don’t change!

This one hit me good!

Awesome advice. My best friend and I have struggled with weight our whole lives too. I compare it to a drug addiction. I love to eat food!! It makes me feel good, it is social and sometimes I can’t get enough.

The sad part is, we KNOW what to do. WE KNOW that eating better and exercising with help the weight come off. The keys to success are right there. SO WHY is it so hard to utilize the key? Why instead do we feel the need to continuously bang our head against the “locked door” of weight control? “This time, this time, this time…my head hurts. Huh. This time, this time….” You see where I am going with this.

So, if you can figure that out, I would sure love to learn it too.

:) Enjoy yourself. We are here for you!

“You can chose to focus on how hard it will be to change…or you can chose to focus on how hard it will be if you don’t change!”
I need to concentrate on this one.
    Thanks Buddy.
I want you to know that God brings you to my mind (for prayer) through out the day.I want you to know this because I want you to know how much he cares about you and what you’re going through. So many people are in your corner, love you and are praying for you. More to share at another time.

Blessings and fruit(praying for Andy too),
    Sue

Even after college and having my degree I never really thought of it that way or had it put in those words.
and the more I think about it the more it hits home for me. And let me tell you I am all about focusing on how
hard it would be if I didnt change, but the best part of it all is that now, you nor I are alone and we can help
    one another and others.

Like I said God has brought you to this and will bring you through this, but Buddy let me say what you are
already doing for others is GREAT and man I cant wait to see what else I can learn from you to not just
help myself but to help others who I know are going through the same as me and you.

WE can do this, anyone can do it with the right people in the right place and I have a good feeling that
God has placed you in the right place even though its hard but some times things have to get hard before
    getting better.

    GREAT WORK BUDDY!

    Prayers man!

I really like Jenn’s comment. I believe it’s what most people who are addicted to something feel. The answer to that question is simple: WILL POWER. you have the tools and keys yet you choose to do nothing. I know from seeing it, that people see that long, hard, brutal road to being in shape, and see that plate of comfort food, and decide they will go to the gym tomorrow. Simply put, you need to want it bad enough. As christians, hopefully you all put God on the front burner of your lives right? So, even if you fall once in a while you know it’s not the end and you are still a saved striving christian, right? If weight-loss is important to you, you beed to be as on fire for that as you are about God. Because as you say, your bodies are temples of God right? then would you feel ok about someone bringing drugs and pornography into your homes to store for a while? it’s the same I think. putting bad foods that your bodies store is the same as putting junk into your homes. I dont think God like his temples being defiled. Just as in life, we fall sometimes and do evil deeds, it is ok for us to slip up on a “diet plan.” what I do for example, is maybe once a week I will eat something that I love. But you must be obsessive about this because when someone offers you something like cake at a birthday party, and you’ve already eaten your icecream cone, you MUST graciously decline. It’s hard, but you must in order to become better.
I say all of this in order to help people for that is what I love to do :)
Dont think Im being an elitist. :) (that was my disclaimer)

    Christopher,

Thank you for understanding what I was saying. You also touched on some other issues that are going on with me, and I believe this was a clear message from God to me. Thank you for your comment…I needed to read it.
