I Hurt for Real! 4

The Spill.

You won’t believe this.  I took a spin on my bike with new skinny tires for the first time Saturday morning. The spin turned into a major spill! The problem? I tried to ride over rail road tracks.  The skinny tires stayed on the tracks, and the large man went flying!

One day before my race and I find myself sitting in the ER.

Thank God I didn’t get really hurt. After I figured I was in one piece…I had one thing on my mind…can I still race? I got my wrist x-rayed and thank God again! It’s just a sprain. Here is an official copy of what my wrist looks like…pretty cool huh?

Got in Delaware around 3:00 and went to the first timer’s orientation. I felt like singing the Sesame Street song…One of these things doesn’t belong here…one of these things just doesn’t go!

No question I’m the largest dude here. Rephrase. Largest dude with scrapes all over his body.

The surf of the ocean looks frightening frankly. I’m going to try to sleep tonight. Up at 5:00 am to get my game face on. Good Night!

Thank you to all of you who have encouraged me on this journey! Thanks for the prayers

    From Libby-
Don’t worry about your seal fears, there’ll be so many other seals with you – “What are the odds?!”

    (wasn’t that encouraging?)
We’re praying for your awesome finish!

    Buddy,
Hopefully you will get some rest tonight. You will be in my prayers. Tomorrow – all of us and your Heavenly Father – will be right beside you cheering you on. Just do the best you can. Oh, and ….Run to win!

    Pastor Buddy,

I feel your pain – ok not with the fall you took – thank God you are fine, I guess God isn’t going to let you get out of the big race with a little fall! Yes, the weight thing will always be a lifelong struggle – it’s a life style change but it is possible. For me weight watchers (and God) changed my life style and I am still able to control it after almost 5 years. Setting reasonable goals and realizing that you can have that piece of cheesecake but that you just need to get back on track afterwards works- not feeling “deprived” is important for me. You are doing awesome – you look great and this race is an unbelievable challenge but we know you can do it (God will be right by your side thru every step, stroke and turn of the wheel). You go Buddy!!! We are praying for you!!! God bless. Laura & Jim Kaye

Good luck on your adventure. I know you can do it! You have been such a great encouragement to me without you even knowing it. I moved back to upstate NY after being in Florida for 24 years. While I was there I visited several churches of many denominations and not really feeling like it was home. After hearing Kevin on the radio at Christmas a few years ago I decided to give Northway Church a try….it was like coming home and being welcomed into open arms. I have been a faithful attendee of Northway ever since. The Lord is using you for such great things in the northeast. Thank you and good luck again.

BUDDY CREMEANS ROCKS–with or without scrapes. Look at it this way: Chicks dig scars…Deb will be all over you when you get home(even more than usual). Go get ‘em, Hoss!

Just a quick note to let you know I am pulling for you Buddy. Run (swim and pedal) your race. Press on to the goal and the prize. I expect that Hurricane Kyle has sent all sharks in the direction of Wales or Greenland or Prince Edward Island so don’t sweat that whole “looking like a seal in the black wetsuit” thing. No fear…all heart. That’s how Rocky would approach this (keep that song in your head). Go for it!

    Dear Triathlete Buddy,
There is nothing like a good bike fall to make you an official biker. Congrats! Your participation in this has brought back many memories I had as a competitive runner/biker.(biathlete) Memories from 26 years ago! You have inspired me to dream again and realize I can get on that bike again and run also. The swimming part, eh…not so much..hah. Thanks for always keeping it real and trying to change the things you can. Looking forward to seeing your scrapes!
Diane(I shook your hand at the YMCA thursday)

Buddy, This will be the biggest physical test of your life. Let go and Let God! Let Jesus take the reigns in all three events. Don’t let the attacks from the dark side hold you back. Have a wonderful story to tell all of us of victory over limits when you return.
