There is a NEW VIBE at Northway Church! It’s one of those things that is hard to describe; however, everyone knows it and everyone can sense it. Its an internal change….its a change in our attitude….its a change in our approach to God….its an intentional change of heart… its bringing Honor back to God and His House.

I want to take the time today to highlight some other changes that are easier to describe, nevertheless they create a new vibe

Help With “Honor In The Home” Research

Debbie and I are speaking this weekend on Honor in the Home. We are talking specifically about giving and receiving Honor. Here is where you come in. We could use your help!

Feel free to answer any or all of the below questions by leaving a comment.

1. Why is it easier to give honor to those outside of the home instead  of to those closest to you?

2. What are ways men dishonor their wives?

3. What are ways women dishonor their husbands?

4. What do you think holds you back from giving honor in the home?

5. How would you complete the following sentence? I would feel honored if my spouse would _______________________.

Thanks everybody!

Blessing Blocker? 2

Honor is a lost art in our culture. Have you ever noticed that we are fantastic at honoring people at their funerals? Intuitively, ALL of us know it’s the right thing to do. Clearly, when someone exits this life we want to make sure we honor their time here on earth. We want to make sure we communicate gratitude for the privilege of knowing them…..regardless of their issues (We all have issues!).

But why do we wait until someone is dead to honor them?

The dead can’t hear us. They can’t receive honor. The truth is that funerals are more for the living than the dead. Why? Its makes us feel better. I understand that it’s  part off the grieving process, but why wait? Why procrastinate?

Life is too short not to honor NOW! Why not honor the people in your life now while they can still hear it? While they can still receive it? You have a great opportunity today to SPEAK UP and honor the living.

WHO do you need to honor NOW?

Twitterspective

So I’m new to some of this social networking stuff…especially Twitter. In fact, I haven’t even reached my one week anniversary. I admit I’ve been skeptical of the Twitterverse. Why? I just couldn’t justify giving my time for the theoretical benefits.

Yesterday at 12:30, I took my 13 year old daughter to the Doctor. She had a 103 degree fever even with Motrin and Tylenol in her system. Scary stuff! The Doctor was cynical about testing her for the flue since Natty just had it less than 2 weeks ago. The Doctor said that in her experience she had never seen anyone get the flu back to back.

Congratulations… Leave it to our daughter to break a record!

The Doc ended up referring us to the hospital to get some more tests for Natty. Close to 10 hours later, they decided to release Natty to come home…with a scheduled follow up. When we arrived home at 1:00 AM, I checked my Twitter…and I was shocked at the response!

A Pastor from Corpus Christie TX, a Pastor from New jersey, a Pastor from Miami, a Pastor from Utah, a Pastor from Illinois, and so many others Tweeted publicly to let Debbie and I know that they were praying for our girl!

My Twitterspective has completely changed.

Thank You “Twitterers”!

Blessing Blocker? (1)

For months wherever I turn, God has been UP in my grill about Honor. I just can’t shake it. God has repeatedly pressed me with His principle that runs His universe…God Honors Honor. Too often God CANNOT and WILL NOT honor us and release His blessing to us because we are blocking giving honor to Him or others.

Are you a blessing blocker?

Is there someone you are blocking or withholding honor from? Maybe it is God.  Has God laid something on your heart and you are just procrastinating? If so you are blocking God.  Maybe you are blocking honor from a spouse, a sibling, a parent, a coworker, a boss, a pastor?  If so, you are blocking God. God never asked us to honor people only if they are perfect… Why? Because we are not perfect beings, we are human beings. However, God instructs ALL of us in scripture (1 Peter 2:17) to HONOR ALL PEOPLE. Show respect to ALL people and treat everyone with dignity.

WHO are you withholding honor from?

Let me encourage you today to quit blocking God’s blessing.  Send an email, make a phone call, write a letter, send a card, make a visit… Do whatever it takes to release honor to them so God can release honor to you!

God Honors Honor.

Siena March Madness

bballSo Proud of Siena’s perseverance!

Way to represent Upstate New York in the big Dance!

They never led in regulation, but took Ohio State to double over time and pulled it off! Incredible!

This buzzer beater stuff is the best time of the year!

Check out the last seconds of the game:

Twitteraddict?

2 days in the Twitter world and I’m so digging it! Can’t believe my bride called me a twitter addict last night! What’s up with that?

Is that even possible in 2 days? I can tell you this….I’m having a blast and enjoying meeting new people! Pretty pumped about getting 100 Twitter followers in 2 days. Thank you to all you “twitterers” showing me some twitter love.

I admit it I used to be a quitter on Twitter.

I was wrong.

My bad.

Let me encourage any of you considering twitter out there….It’s never to late to join the party!!
