Awesome words. There is really so much healing in words, isn’t there? I particularly like “retreat to your vision.” William Wilberforce had a vision that I believe could be succinctly conveyed by a letter that Wesley wrote to him, “unless the divine power has raised you up…I see not how you can go through your glorious enterprise, in opposing that execrable villainy which is the scandal of religion, of England, and of human nature. Unless God has raised you up for this very thing, you will be worn out by the opposition of men and devils. But ‘if God be for you, who can be against you?’ Are all them stronger than God? O ‘be not weary in well doing?’ Go on in the name of God and in the power of His might, till even American slavery (the vilest that ever was seen) shall vanish away before it….
Many times I use this borrowed vision and and when ‘I retreat to the vision’ I remember who I am and much more importantly who HE is and how precious that HE allows me the opportunity to serve HIM by doing something I could never do. Even more amazing though is that through the suffering of accomplishing the vision I find that I am become more like HIM which really is what the vision is all about!!…Amazing Grace!!!
