Proverbs 8:35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives FAVOR from the LORD.

Have you ever noticed someone from a far that you look up to…. and think…

MAN! They sure are talented! They sure have the goods!

Then you think, Oh, that’s it! Now I get it…. That’s the Favor Secret! God must have given them MORE talent than everybody else. That’s why they have more favor than everybody else. Makes total sense right?

Wrong.

Over the last several years, for some reason, God has allowed me to get up close and personal with some of the greatest leaders in our time. I have been blessed as they have become good friends. Consequently, people ask me all the time, ” What’s “so and so” really like?” How did they achieve and accomplish so much for God?

Here is the one secret that I would share with you.

They WORK HARDER than everybody else, PERIOD.

I know it’s not sexy. I know it’s not glamorous. I know it’s not stunning.

It’s simply the truth.

Proverbs 8:35 Tells us if we seek wisdom and find it, we find the favor of God. Many people say they want the favor of God…or say they want the wisdom of God. They just don’t want to work hard to get it.

You have to WORK to get WISDOM.

Let me rephrase that. You have to work harder than you ever have, strap on a work ethic like you never have, challenge every lazy excuse your sorry butt has enabled for years, and get your rear- end going! Then when you think you can’t do any more, You push yourself and break thru. Now, while everybody else is resting…. you are secretly working and improving your game!

Now, some of you maybe offended. Good! That’s what wisdom does…it challenges you. Proverbs tells us a wise person wouldn’t be offended. Here is the deal, remember those people you admire??? They wouldn’t be offended. Their eyes light up when someone challenges their work ethic because they have received the benefits from wisdom.

The FAVOR of God.

  • I love this article. I think you are right on. Nothing takes the place of hard work. Thanks for this encouraging article, bro.

  • Thanks Randy! Keep kicking it and keep out working every one else! Proud of you!

  • Coach Tooker:

Awesome article. I think most of us having difficulty dealing with the fact that hard work doesn’t always pay off “right now.” Hard work always pays off,- it just doesn’t always happen on our time table. God has something for us to learn or gain in the process.

  • Larry S.:

It’s like the sowing and reaping principle in the Bible. If you plant little, you will harvest little. (2 Cor 9:6).

Also, whenever I read Proverbs 8:35 it always seems to me like it’s Jesus speaking and then I tie it into Colossians 2:2-3 which says, “Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”. So, I would think that our hard work must involve seeking Christ and getting to know Him better and better as that is where wisdom is. I don’t know how to tie this in with what you’re saying or if I’m off base.

  • Coach, I think you have the greatest job in the world! If i wasn’t a Pastor I would be a coach! You are spot on! We want instant gratification….wisdom is delayed gratification.

Larry, No doubt about it….the essence of wisdom starts and ends with Christ.
